Electrical Engineer III

Pay Rate: $62-$64.50/hour

Contract Length: 12 months

Location: Houston, TX 77079

Raise is currently hiring an Electrical Engineer III on behalf of our client. They're expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer supervises the electrical and controls design for expansion and maintenance projects by third-party engineering firms, ensuring they meet Company and industry standards, and stay within budget and schedule.

They collaborate with Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services to ensure all project and company requirements are integrated into the design deliverables.

Responsibilities

Oversees project scope, schedule, cost estimates, execution planning, risks, and supporting information for facility projects.

Ensures facility designs comply with regulations, industry codes, and corporate standards.

Manages third-party engineering firms to ensure design deliverables meet budget and schedule.

Reviews and approves design deliverables like drawings, technical reports, and material listings.

Evaluates vendor quotations, prepares technical evaluations, and recommends selections based on technical merit, price, and delivery (e.g., turbine/compressor packages, equipment vessels, buildings, pipe, valves, fittings).

Provides technical support during construction and commissioning phases.

Incorporates lessons learned from past projects into future designs.

Offers technical guidance to junior engineers.

Leads or supports department initiatives as needed.

Ensures project scope definitions comply with regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements through effective coordination with internal functional groups.

Requirement

The Electrical Engineer must have experience in the design of large horsepower (10,000 to 30,000 HP) turbine and electrical motor driven centrifugal compressor stations, and experience in industrial systems and Hazardous Classified Areas meeting NEC requirements and knowledge of the following:

Power

120/208-volt systems including lighting panels, lighting, convenience outlets.

480-volt systems including motor controls centers/motor starters, motors, power panels,

transformers, auto transfer switches and generators.

4160-volt systems including switchgear, motor starters, synchronous motors, circuit breakers,

relaying, metering.

Cable and conduit sizing.

Starter and overload sizing.

Grounding systems.

Cathodic protection systems.

Controls

Allen-Bradley or equivalent PLC base controls systems including Wonderware based operator

interface and communication between multiple PLC based systems.

Motor controls circuits.

Valve actuators electric and pneumatic.

PID loop controllers.

Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).

Instrumentation

Smart and analog transmitters including Rosemount and Honeywell.

Pneumatic gauges.

Pressure, differential pressure and temperature transmitters.

Level gauges & transmitters.

RTDs and thermocouples, thermowells.

Flame and gas detector systems.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

7 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering and project management.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer designation.

Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate and manage change.

Capable of working independently, managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks accordingly.

Ability to resolve complex issues based on depth and breadth of technical and business knowledge.

Awareness of interrelationships with other stakeholders both internal and external to the project team.

Effectively communicate technical issues and impacts to other technical and non-technical staff.
