Shipfitter Job Description As a Shipfitter, you will be responsible for laying out and fabricating aluminum parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames. You will brace them in position within the hull of a ship for riveting or welding. Your work will ensure the structural integrity and proper fitting of various ship components. Responsibilities Lay out the position of parts on aluminum using blueprints or templates, and scribe and hand tools. Mark the location of holes to be drilled and install temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding or riveting. Roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts using shop machinery such as plate rolls, presses, and bending brakes. Essential Skills 3-5 years of Finish Carpentry experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in using hand tools and shop machinery. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of National City, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
