Job DescriptionJob Description
DHM Construction based in St Petersburg, Florida is seeking an entry level or experienced Residential Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for completing material takeoffs, preparing accurate cost estimates for our projects, generating associate purchase orders and working with architects, engineer subcontractors and vendors and homeowners.
Key responsibilities:
Cost analysis & Estimation
- Review blueprints, drawing specifications and project documents to prepare detailed quantity take-offs
- Develop accurate cost estimates for each project
- Create accurate purchase orders for each project
Collaborations & Communication
- Work closely with architects, engineers, designers and subcontractors to gather necessary information to validate estimate
- Identify potential cost savings and risk factors providing proactive solutions
- Provide support to subcontractor's management activities
Project & Data Management
- Assemble and maintain cost database for all projects plans and options
- Utilize estimation software and tools to streamline the estimating process
- Assist in pre-construction planning meetings
- Work closely with homeowners and investors
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the residential construction process
- 1-3 years of experience in construction estimating with background in residential home building projects
- Strong organizational and project management skills, ability to prioritize and take initiative
- The ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and plot plans
- Professional and effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to perform multiple detail-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
- Ability to work in a high stress fast-pace team orientated environment
- Advance PC skills Microsoft Office Bluebeam and estimating software
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- Experience working in the Tampa Bay Area
- Bilingual is a plus
Physical Demands
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
- Job requires extensive sitting and working on a computer
- Occasional travel to job sites may be required
