Estimator - Asphalt & DOT Roadway Projects
Location: Tampa Bay, FL
Salary: up to $120K, based on experience
We're hiring on behalf of a long-standing asphalt contractor in the Tampa Bay area. They're looking for an experienced Estimator who knows their way around DOT roadway work, understands the real-world variables in the field, and can put together accurate, competitive bids without cutting corners.
Why this role is open:
The company is growing and securing more FDOT and municipal paving work across Central Florida. They need another solid estimator to help handle the increased volume and make sure they're pricing jobs right, winning the right work, and setting projects up for success.
What you'll be doing:
This is a hands-on estimating role. You'll be reviewing plans, doing takeoffs, running numbers, and working with operations and field leaders to make sure your pricing reflects actual production in the field. You'll also deal directly with suppliers and subcontractors, making sure you've got the best pricing and coverage lined up before the bid drops.
You won't be stuck behind a desk all day. Site visits, pre-bid walkthroughs, and conversations with project managers are all part of the job.

Experience estimating for asphalt paving and DOT roadway projectsSolid understanding of FDOT specs, pay items, and how these jobs really get builtComfortable using takeoff and estimating software (HCSS, B2W, or similar)Sharp attention to detail without getting bogged downAbility to work with operations, not against them, when it comes to production assumptions and planningSomeone who can hit deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
