We are currently searching for an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support our Southeast Region located in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Chipley, or Tallahassee, FL.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

What you'll be doing:

Perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of structural engineering principles

Projects may include design and repair of highway bridges and retaining walls, bridge load ratings, review of working drawings and cost estimating

Analyze structures using various structural engineering software programs

Prepare or check structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials, predominantly steel and concrete

Prepare structural drawings in Open Bridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD

Coordinate with other disciplines such as roadway and drainage to perform checks of documents for conformance to structural drawings

Work collaboratively as part of our Structures Team

What you need to have:

B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

5 - 10 years of engineering experience in bridge design

Recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design

PE required

FDOT experience required

Familiarity with bridge design and analysis software such as Open Bridge and/or Leap Bridge, CSI Bridge, AASHTO BrR, other bridge analysis software

Experience with preparing drawings in Open Bridge, Microstation, and/or AutoCAD

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.

Valid driver's license.

A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
