Must be Highly Skilled 1st & 2nd Shift Position Summary The WelderFitter A performs a variety of standardized as well as customizedwelding duties on standard and nonstandard parts. They perform verycomplex custom weldment fit up on tanks and heat exchangers of all sizesand weights using the gas metal arc welding/flux cored arc welding(GMAW/FCAW) welding process. Must be proficient in numerous WeldingProcedure Specifications (WPS) including small pipe qualification andvarious welding positions. This role directs other team members on theirtasks when working in tandem on the same vessel and they perform themost complicated and dangerous rigging tasks when moving large vessels.Measures of success: Full understanding of relevant Welding ProcedureSpecifications (WPS) and the ability to follow all parameters within.Timely completion of all welding operations within the operational timelimits and according to company\'s quality protocols. Ability to resolvecomplex welding and fit-up issues with minimal guidance Capability ofwelding fillet and groove welds without backing in both the horizontaland flat positions. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but arenot limited to: Works independently using drawings, specifications, WPSand verbal instructions. Uses various types of welding equipment and avariety of common hand and power tools. Performs fit up and fully weldthe most complex heat exchangers and tanks including custom fabricationsand extremely complex tanks, with minimal guidance by reading andinterpreting standard and custom part drawings. This can take place atelevated heights, while working on top of tanks or from elevated workplatforms. Performs final welding operations on complex weldments thathave been fit up by others. Must be able to perform confined spacewelding as needed. Uses FCAW/GMAW welding process, with or withoutbacking, in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions, onboth steel and stainless-steel materials. Welds full penetration weldson small diameter pipe using the GMAW process. Uses a scissor lift whenneeded to access welding work at heights. Interacts with the Engineeringteam on designs and fabrication challenges as needed. Reads appropriateWelding Procedure Specification (WPS) and is capable of interpretingwelding variables and assures that all parameters within the WPS areadhered to. Performs the most complex lifting/rigging activities using10- & 20-ton cranes. Monitors quality of work, makes correctiveadjustments and reports equipment malfunctions, defective materials orother unusual conditions to supervisor. Maintains necessary records,completes transactions within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)system and accesses company intranet as needed for work instructions.Ensures their own safety and that of team members. Troubleshootsengineering drawings and reviews with management when issues areidentified. Maintains work area in neat, clean, and orderly conditionand observes all safety regulations and practices. QualificationsRequired: High school diploma or equivalent Must be able to passAmerican Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section IX welding testswith the following variables: -FCAW/GMAW and SAW processes -Steel-steel,steel-stainless, stainless-stainless -Flat, horizontal, vertical andoverhead positions -With or without backing -Small pipe diameter inrotated horizontal position 7+ years of welding experience usingdrawings, specifications, charts and welding equipment Strong knowledgeof shop math and basic geometry concepts Must be proficient in numerouswelding procedure specifications including small pipe qualification andvarious welding positions Ability to follow verbal and writteninstructions and effectively apply to assigned work Ability to navigatemultiple windows in company ERP system to access production and resourcedata
