We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic/Transportation Engineer to support our East Gulf Region group located in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, AL.
What you'll be doing:
Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
Projects may include traffic operations analysis, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing development, corridor planning studies, transportation safety studies, roadway master planning, long range transportation planning, and transportation modeling (micro and macro)
Assist the Project Manager in the development and design of projects
Assist Service Line Manager in development of Engineering Interns
Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports
What you need to have:
B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited engineering program
5 - 10+ years of experience - Must be in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning
Alabama PE License required
PTOE, PTP, and/or RSP certifications are a plus
Proficiency with traffic engineering and transportation planning practices and procedures
Proficiency with Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Microstation
Familiarity with CUBE Voyager and TransCAD is a plus
Mastery with MS Office products
Must be dependable with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide high quality work
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
Valid driver's license
A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
