Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: Mossville, IL
Details: 24-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire
Pay Rate: $56.00 - 61.00/hr. with benefit inclusions
Job Summary
Join Caterpillar's Electrification + Energy Solutions Division to develop purchased-finished power electronics components. This role focuses on converters and inverters for electric drivetrains, contributing to the advancement of our e-powertrain systems.
Responsibilities
Lead the full development cycle of purchased-finished converters and inverters.
Define converter/inverter requirements in collaboration with systems teams.
Conduct technical analysis and supplier evaluations.
Oversee hardware and software design customization with suppliers.
Support testing, evaluation, and validation with validation teams.
Engage in NTI & NPI processes, including design and gateway reviews.
Collaborate with Caterpillar China teamflexibility for early/late meetings required.
Participate in supplier evaluation, selection, and development (limited travel).
Assist with component commissioning on machine builds.
Manage APQP activities with suppliers.
Resolve and document field issues.
Handle procurement, inventory, and shipment logistics.
Stay current on market trends in e-powertrain DC converters and inverters.
Years of Experience and Education
Minimum 10 years in product development or design.
Proven track record in full or partial component/product development cycles.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Technical Skills (Required)
Electric drive systems and/or component experience.
Design, analysis, assembly, and testing of components.
Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, and PPAP quality tools.
Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and issue resolution.
Technical Skills (Desired)
Inverter and motor drive experience for electric powertrains.
Supplier evaluation and development.
Power converter testing and validation.
Soft Skills (Required)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-starter with initiative and problem-solving ability.
Soft Skills (Desired)
Demonstrated leadership in complex assignments.
