Slitter Machine Operator Job Description Join a dynamic team in a steel processing environment where you will collaborate with production staff to handle and move large coils of steel through processes such as galvanizing and zinc plating. You will support operations on the slitter, pickling, or galvanizing lines, ensuring safe and effective machinery operation. Responsibilities Collaborate with production staff to stage and move large coils of steel. Support slitter, pickling, or galvanizing lines throughout the day. Adhere to safety standards on the work site. Complete necessary training for effective and safe machinery operation. Essential Skills Experience working in steel, construction, roofing, or stamping environments. Ability to independently run and operate machinery. Capability to lift 50+ pounds multiple times per shift. Experience in positions requiring standing for the entire shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Pickle Line Operating Experience is a plus. Slitter Line Operating Experience is a plus. Steel-toed boots are required. Why Work Here? This long-term opportunity offers significant growth potential. There is an apprenticeship program available every 2-3 years, allowing you to become a Journeyman Maintenance or Electrician and earn up to $30 per hour. Work Environment The work environment is a steel processing plant featuring four lines, including pickling and galvanizing lines, with large indoor and outdoor storage areas. It is critical to adhere to safe work practices due to the size and weight of the steel. Expect a dirty, harsh, and loud setting, with hot summers and cold winters. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monroe, Michigan. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $23.00/hr.
