About the Role: At XL Construction, Project Engineers are critical to our success. Youll work alongside our Project Managers and Superintendents to drive successful project deliveryfrom planning to closeout. Youll help manage the flow of project information, ensure construction is executed safely and efficiently, and build lasting relationships with clients and trade partners. Your work will directly impact project success, and you'll be positioned for long-term growth in our project management career track. Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with trade contractors and vendors to increase bid coverage and promote inclusive subcontractor participation
  • Assist in subcontractor buyouts and contract execution
  • Support procurement, change management, and forecasting activities
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, document control, and drawing logs with attention to detail and timeliness
  • Support job walks, meetings, and field inspections to ensure schedule, quality, and safety compliance
  • Lead portions of project execution under PM oversightdevelop exhibits, track costs, manage logs, and own closeout tasks
  • Monitor work in the field (including SPW scopes), and perform basic quality control checks
  • Build trust with clients, design teams, and internal partners by showing up as a thoughtful and proactive team player
  • Mentor and support interns or early career talent as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in construction management, Engineering, or related fieldor equivalent experience
  • 13+ years of relevant experience (internships or co-ops included)
  • Familiarity with construction methods, building systems, and technical drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Procore, BlueBeam, Egnyte, or Primavera a plus
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset

Compensation & Pay Transparency (California): In accordance with California pay transparency laws, the base salary range for this position is $96,200 $102,000 annually , depending on experience, education, and qualifications. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and learning & development support.
