This is a Philadelphia-based position supporting our clients growing pipeline of energy efficiency and infrastructure modernization work across the region. The Senior Business Development Manager plays a critical role in identifying new opportunities, securing contracts, and guiding prospective clients through the early phases of the project development process. This position will report to executive leadership and work closely with internal technical teams to shape winning solutions that align with client needs and market demands.

OVERVIEW

The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for qualifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities across key verticalsincluding municipal, education, healthcare, and commercial/industrial sectors. You will serve as a strategic partner to clients, understanding their goals and helping to craft energy efficiency solutions that drive long-term value.

This role requires strong consultative sales experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to communicate complex offerings with clarity and credibility. You will work closely with engineering, finance, and leadership to ensure the technical and commercial strategies align with customer objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify, qualify, and secure new energy project opportunities across assigned sectors and geographies.
  • Develop strong client relationships through strategic outreach, discovery, and consultative engagement.
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer goals related to energy, infrastructure, capital planning, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with internal technical and engineering teams to translate client objectives into project scope and deliverables.
  • Develop compelling value propositions and align internal strategies with client goals to differentiate from competitors.
  • Lead or support the creation of presentations, proposals, and contract documentation during pursuit stages.
  • Work with suppliers, contractors, and partner networks to identify new opportunities and strengthen go-to-market strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote brand visibility and business development.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of qualified leads and drive opportunities through the sales cycle to closure.
  • Provide market feedback and customer insight to help shape solution development, pricing models, and business strategy.
  • Contribute to cross-functional collaboration across sales, marketing, engineering, and leadership.
  • Stay up to date with regional procurement legislation, market conditions, and industry trends impacting energy services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of consultative sales experience within energy services, construction, or building solutions.
  • Strong understanding of energy efficiency, infrastructure upgrades, and decarbonization strategies.
  • Familiarity with public procurement processes, legislation, and contract structures.
  • Experience working in complex sales environments and navigating multi-stakeholder engagements.
  • Ability to synthesize technical, financial, and operational elements into cohesive solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to tailor messaging to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word and PowerPoint; CRM experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of business finance and contracting structures is strongly preferred.
