Electrical Engineer

Actalent is seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team on a new nuclear reactor. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to Canada's first grid-scale Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project, working alongside a multidisciplinary team on a high-impact clean energy initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual and detailed equipment designs while implementing a structured design review process including peer reviews, simulations, and prototyping.
  • Engage in detailed design activities across multiple buildings including turbine control, radioactive waste, and storage facilities.
  • Design and analyze electrical power distribution systems using advanced software tools, ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical reporting to support design decisions and project documentation.
  • Jump into ongoing scopes of work and contribute effectively to the balance of plant systems.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment for professional growth.
  • Create and maintain life cycle plans, including comprehensive inspection and test programs for equipment management.
  • Follow structured engineering change control procedures, ensuring thorough testing and validation of all changes.
  • Maintain open communication with construction and procurement partners, providing practical solutions that meet project goals and timelines.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to provide field support and ensure seamless integration of plant design modifications.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with wiring, cabling, and online wiring in industrial or nuclear environments.
  • Background in nuclear projects preferred; alternatively, experience in power generation, oil & gas, or substations.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems including MCCs, LV systems, VFDs, smart equipment, lighting analysis and design, redundant power sources, and fire protection requirements.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Ability to pass nuclear security clearance

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
