GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior CAD Operator reporting out of GAI’s Transmission Line Group. This a remote position reporting out of GAI’s office in Homestead, PA. The ideal candidate has good analytical thinking, problem-solving techniques, expertise with AutoCAD/MicroStation, the ability to quickly learn other computer aided drafting (CAD) software, and excellent communication skills.

Job duties include, but not limited to the following:

  • Design and permit transmission/distribution lines, including drawing preparation, bill of materials development, material ordering, and conducting field visits.
  • Ability to conduct field visits and use information to create drawings.
  • Utilize various software to create overhead and underground electrical transmission/distribution designs.
  • Follow local utility and construction standards.
  • Ability to learn, retain and apply on the job training and use design software packages efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively in design teams.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible to handle shifting deadlines and scope changes.
  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/MicroStation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Characteristics

  • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments; serves as a Task Manager for midsize to large projects; serves as the technical specialist in the field of expertise; up to speed on industry standards and Company policies and procedures.

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 18+ Years of Experience

Education

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School or equivalent experience.

Certification/Licensure

  • Driver’s License

Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage tasks to successful completion for time, budget, schedule, and quality.

Project and Task Management

  • Responsible for task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.

Management Responsibility

  • Provides advisement on scopes, budgets, and schedules for work to be completed; works with other project leadership to complete their assigned tasks; maintains GAI's procedures and protocols.
  • Responsible for management and administration of staff.

Communication Skills

  • Routinely interacts with clients, leads project and group meetings and presentations; possess marketing and sales skills; represents Company in a positive light; interacts with Project Managers and leaders of the Company on a regular basis; attends meetings with company leaders on Group/Department status including financials reviews.
