JOB GOAL: In collaboration with others, develops and implements practices and strategies to create and maintain safe, effective, and supportive learning environments for students and school staff; works collaboratively with other school personnel to strengthen and maintain a multi-tiered system of services to support all students' attainment of academic, social/emotional, and behavioral goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- DESE License for Principal/Assistant Principal and knowledge of MTSS systems, data, and practices
- Background in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Mental Health, or Special Education preffered
REPORTS TO: School Principal and District MTSS Coordinator
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assistant Principal Duties:
- Coach, supervise, and evaluate job performance of teachers and mental health staff as assigned by the Principal.
- Assist crisis response team by responding to student behaviors, supporting GHS staff, and implementing crisis procedures as necessary.
- Supervise students at school sponsored events as assigned, including school lunches, student assemblies and activities, and athletic events. Some events are after school hours.
- Hold students accountable to behavioral expectations, and enforce discipline code as necessary, strictly adhering to students' due process rights. Prepare discipline letters and reports as required.
- Assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the Building Principal.
- Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the Building Principal.
MTSS Administrative Duties:
- Facilitate/co-facilitate MTSS SEL meetings across all Tiers; maintain regular consultation with District MTSS Coordinator and SEL coach; participate in District SEL and Facilitator's meetings.
- Provide oversight, in collaboration with District MTSS Coordinator, to building level SEL and PBIS/Family Engagement Coaches.
- Oversee SEL/MH team's service delivery and procedural practices within the MTSS framework.
- Support SEL/MH building staff (i.e., SEL coach, BCBAs, school psychologists, counselors) and attend MH common planning time meetings to address SEB/MH systems.
- Review outcome data at the individual, group, and school levels to evaluate program efficacy, recommend changes to current practices and procedures within the MTSS framework, and design professional development; analyze MTSS and student outcome data to share out with key stakeholders and determine areas of strength and need.
- Directs and facilitates Student Support Team meetings.
