Position Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Rail Design Engineer to join our highly skilled Chicago Rail Practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in rail engineering and a proven ability to lead design tasks for Phase I and Phase II projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with Class 1 freight railroads and passenger systems such as Amtrak, CTA, and Metraboth locally and nationwide. Were looking for someone familiar with the Chicago market who can contribute to our strong local team while supporting our growing national practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead rail design tasks under the direction of the Project Manager (PM)
- Support development of project scope, budget, and schedule
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders
- Direct engineering staff across experience levels to produce design documents and specifications
- Collaborate with PMs and team leads on resource planning and internal workshare
- Assist in developing proposals and other business development initiatives to drive growth
- Ability to meet with client and public stakeholders and perform site visits in field as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
- 6+ years of experience in rail design and/or planning
- Proven experience leading rail design tasks
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to collaborating closely with clients and other stakeholders beyond technical engineering teams
- Passion for working on large, multi-disciplinary rail projects with fast paced schedules which require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
Compensation Range:
