We are looking for an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial plumbing projects, including new construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and large-scale developments. The estimator will play a pivotal role in ensuring our bids are precise, compliant with California regulations, and aligned with project requirements. This position requires collaboration with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to deliver estimates that support our commitment to quality and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, RFIs, and other project documentation to estimate costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
Prepare detailed and competitive bid proposals for commercial plumbing projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scopes.
Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and labor.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure estimates meet project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of California plumbing codes, industry trends, material costs, and local market conditions to ensure competitive and compliant estimates.
Assist in negotiating contracts and managing project costs to maintain profitability.
Track bidding success rates and provide post-project cost evaluations to refine future estimates.
Prepare schematics, design layouts, and construction document estimates for significant commercial projects.
Communicate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve issues and clarify project scopes during the estimation process.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial plumbing estimation, preferably in the Sacramento or Northern California market.
Strong knowledge of California plumbing codes, standards, and commercial construction practices, including compliance with California Building Standards Code.
Proficiency in estimation software such as QuickPen, AccuBid, PlanSwift, or equivalent, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical documents, blueprints, and specifications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Valid California drivers license and reliable transportation for occasional site visits.
Experience as a licensed plumber or contractor (C-36 Plumbing Contractors license) is preferred but not required.
High school diploma or GED required; a technical degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
