Job DescriptionAECOMs legal team in Canada is searching for a Contract Administrator that will be responsible for reviewing contracts, including high-value contracts of a complex nature, and/or contracts requiring keen negotiation abilities for AECOMs Design and Consulting Services Group. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in contract management, preferably within the engineering and construction industries. The position is expected to work independently as part of the regional contracts team supporting multiple regions within Canada and can be based from any of our Canadian offices (preferably Markham, ON or Montreal, QC).
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversee the administration and communication of all elements of contractual terms and conditions from proposal stage through contract close-out and audit
- Directly support all departments in developing contracts within company policies
Review and draft professional services (engineering, architecture, environmental, and other technical services) and construction related agreements
- Review and draft prime contracts, master service agreements, subcontracts, joint venture agreements, teaming agreements, and non-disclosure agreements
- Prepare contract review summaries, identify potential risks and recommend alternative mitigating language within company risk guidelines
- Use the companys online contract management tool efficiently and provide guidance and support to end users with respect to same as needed
- Utilize internal legal resources and other subject matter experts to assist with identification of risk and risk mitigation
- Provide prompt responses, contract reviews, and general correspondence to help the team in meeting local deadlines
- Liaise with legal counsel, procurement, finance, and project teams to ensure contracts comply with industry regulations and company policies
- Develop strong stakeholder relationships by driving effective communications and developing effective stakeholder management plan
- As a Senior Contract Manager, mentor and/or assist junior members and be proactive in finding process efficiencies for the contract review process for others on the legal team
- Stay up-to-date on company policies and procedures, as well as subject matter areas in which the company is pursuing work
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; a focus in Law/Legal or equivalent relevant courses preferred
- 6+ years of contract related experience with at least 5+ years in an engineering and/or architecture firm, or contractor or law firm in the areas of engineering and construction or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience in reviewing and drafting professional services agreements that adhere to company policies and procedures
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and stakeholders effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office and contract management tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French (not required but considered an asset)
