THE VACANCY, BASIC FUNCTION, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Manager, Grounds Maintenance, operate and maintain a variety of power equipment and vehicles involved with District grounds construction and maintenance activities; perform grounds maintenance and gardening duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years experience in grounds maintenance work including some experience working on grounds equipment.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class A California Driver's License with no restrictions for driving with air brakes obtained during the probationary period.

The supplemental questions to the application will be reviewed and rated for certification. These questions are required at the time of application and are qualifying.

An eligibility list will be established for successful candidates which will be used to fill open positions during the life of the list.

Examinations and interviews held to create the eligible list will be conducted virtually, using different online/internet platforms that require video recording or conferencing capabilities, as well as access to a computer with internet connection and basic Microsoft Office Suite Software.

The virtual written examination is tentatively scheduled for the week of July 14th. The virtual qualifications appraisal interview (oral exam) is tentatively scheduled for the week of July 28th . You will be contacted via email, as indicated on your application, regarding your ability to participate in the examination phase of this recruitment.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Operate and maintain a variety of power grounds equipment such as field mowers, bobcats and attachments, trucks, skip loaders, grinders, roto-tillers, trenchers and forklifts; operate other grounds equipment including mowers and edgers as required.

Service large field mower; check, adjust, lubricate and clean equipment; perform minor repairs as needed; assure cutting blades are properly functioning.

Maintain routine records and reports related to equipment, parts and work performed.

Prepare large athletic fields; line athletic fields; mow, fill and level field surfaces.

Perform a variety of grounds maintenance duties as assigned; clean roof drains; weed landscaped areas; rake leaves; trim trees; clear debris; shovel dirt and sand.

Transport and set-up chairs, risers and other equipment used for special events; move furniture as assigned.

Provide assistance to maintenance personnel regarding proper operation of power grounds equipment and other heavy equipment as required.

Communicate with other departments, staff and outside agencies concerning equipment and repairs.

Participate in weed and insect abatement as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES:
Perform related duties as assigned.

Proper methods of storing equipment and supplies ABILITY TO: Operate and maintain a variety of large power grounds equipment and tools.
Perform a variety of grounds maintenance and gardening work.

Maintain routine records and prepare reports related to work performed.
Observe health and safety regulations.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
