Electrician Supervisor (Temporary to Permanent) - CUNY Only (Reopened)

GENERAL DUTIES

• Under general supervision, supervises electricians and other assigned personnel in the installation, repair, replacement and maintenance of apparatus, equipment and electric wiring circuits for buildings according to the provisions of the New York City Electrical Code and/or department specifications; performs related work.
• Prepares and is responsible for the work of electricians, electrician's helpers, and other assigned personnel in altering, repairing and maintaining appliances, equipment and wiring circuits in electrical installations for light, heat and power in or on buildings.
• Makes decisions relative to work procedures.
• Prepares work schedules and makes work assignments.
• Makes fields inspections in connection with electrical installations and components of systems relative to work progress or need for alterations, maintenance and repairs thereto.
• Prepares job orders and tool and material requisitions.
• Supervises the complete operation of the department shop.
• Consults with staff personnel, contractors, inspectors and manufacturers' representatives in connection with department work.
• Keeps records and makes reports.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks a Electrician Supervisor (temporary to permanent) in the Facilities Department. This position will report to the Administrative Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.

Note :

• Candidates must have at least one year of experience as a permanent Electrician at a CUNY campus.
• All applicants must have taken the civil service exam Supervisor Electrician Exam #4556. Applicants selected for this position will be required to show proof that they took the exam.
• All Provisional and/or Temporary employees must take the appropriate civil service exam and score high enough to be reachable on the civil service list in order to be appointed from the list. When a civil service list is established, the College is required to make probable permanent appointments from the certified list to fill all positions including those held by Provisional and/or Temporary employees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year of permanent service in the title of Electrician.

COMPENSATION

$135,198
