Position Overview: The R&D team at CompoSecure is looking for a Project Manager who challenges the status quo and works with passion. We turn an everyday payment card into an exciting and desirable secure artwork. CompoSecure created the metal credit card segment, and we would like to create the next payment card innovation with you.
The primary responsibility of the Engineering Project to lead cross-functional projects spanning research and development (R&D), New Product Introduction (NPI), process scale-up, and commercialization within a manufacturing setting. This role will bridge the gap between R&D, operations, and commercial teams, ensuring that innovative products are developed, industrialized, and launched to market on time, within budget, and to spec.
The project manager must work well on a team and utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition, the position executes and completes independent projects. In this role the project manager is an integral part of the team and will be hands-on with tasks when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead NPI and commercialization projects from concept to production, ensuring alignment with business goals and manufacturing capabilities. Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, scopes, and risk mitigation plans.
- Serve as the main point of contact between engineering, product development, operations, supply chain, marketing, and quality teams.
- Facilitate design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews and drive readiness of production systems to support product launches.
- Coordinate prototype builds, pilot runs, and process validations, ensuring scalability and cost-efficiency.
- Oversee technology transfer from R&D to production, ensuring technical documentation, SOPs, and training are in place.
- Track and report project progress to leadership using dashboards and status reports.
- Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles during product ramp-up and steady-state production.
- Ensure all projects adhere to compliance standards (e.g., ISO)and internal quality systems.
Other Important Responsibilities:
- Consistently demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks to ensure most critical processes impacting business results are being addressed
- Thorough documentation of existing processes and new process development, inclusive of progressive results, specific equipment parameters and work instructions where appropriate
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant project situations
- Engage and support companywide Safety and Cleanliness programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline); Master's or PMP certification preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing engineering projects in manufacturing, including new product introductions (NPIs).
- Demonstrated experience bringing new products from concept to market in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM), engineering change processes, and manufacturing scale-up.
- Proficient in project management tools (e.g., Jira and others) and PLM systems.
- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in cross-functional development teams within consumer goods, electronics, medical devices, or automotive industries.
- Knowledge of stage-gate or agile NPI processes.
- Experience with automation, rapid prototyping, or digital manufacturing tools.
- Comfortable with office automation to create workflows and automate tasks. (Power BI, Power Automate)
- Familiarity with CAD
- Familiarity with cost modeling, supply chain integration, and supplier qualification during commercialization.
- Familiar with new product testing & qualification processes
- Manufacturing experience
- Chemical Hygiene/Hazardous materials training ISO process familiarity
Physical requirements and work environment:

Must be able to sustain factory work as needed including the following:
Standing at machinery
Reaching and pulling to operate machinery
Sight for machinery operation
Walking through shop
Office environment is of moderate noise level.
Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.
