About the Role

My client, a leading engineering and construction firm, is seeking a Senior Professional Electrical Engineer to support design and construction projects across a range of critical infrastructure sectors. As part of a highly skilled electrical engineering team, you will work on complex and meaningful projects that positively impact communities, with opportunities to leverage advanced engineering tools and technologies. This is a full-time, regular position based in Latham, NY, with no relocation support provided.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex electrical systems including electric master system plans, power systems, generation models, facility power systems, and renewable energy systems.
  • Conduct electrical studies and calculations including lighting simulations, power system analysis, communications, fire alarm, and security systems.
  • Develop technical documentation and white papers to contribute to internal technical knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct field reviews to validate design assumptions and requirements.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to support proposals and client engagements.
  • Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to enhance visibility.
  • Mentor junior staff, providing technical oversight and development support.
  • May oversee project work by less experienced engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (additional experience may substitute for formal education).
  • Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally depending on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience designing power systems in water, wastewater, industrial, federal, or transit sectors.
  • Proficiency in medium and low-voltage power distribution design.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, and other relevant standards.
  • Skilled in power system analysis software such as SKM Power Tools and ETAP.

Key Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of CAD (3D and 4D).
  • Strong engineering design principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.
