Project Overview:

Bechtel's focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup for the Mammoth South, Central I and Central II project for a 376MW DC each (Total of 1.1GW DC) solar plant in Pulaski County, Indiana

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets. You will be responsible for maintaining the site facilities, tools & equipment, and general logistics within the site in addition to other activities delegated to you by the Project Field Superintendent.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership/Supervision

  • Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
  • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.

Planning/Productivity

  • Determines workforce requirements.
  • Coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients' resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
  • Assists in the preparation of construction drawings and sketches.

Safety/Quality

  • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Ensures the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
  • Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Experience working with Direct Hire union workforce.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • An understanding of the application and requirements of Project Environmental, Safety & Health.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, lifting of materials 50lbs, and working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress) and work primarily outside.
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
