Who Are We?
Are you someone that likes new challenges? Do you want to explore new technologies and help solve some of the worlds most difficult problems, like air quality and safety solutions? At TSI, these opportunities are real. Our engineers work with industry-leading experts both internally and externally. We encourage and enable our engineers to get into the field with customers to better understand their issues and solve their problems. At TSI, you make a difference every day.
Senior Electrical Engineer Supervisor at TSI
The Senior Electrical Engineer Supervisor is a lead role that involves overseeing a team of electrical engineers in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for TSIs precision instruments, including particle, gas, and flow measurement sensors and devices. This position is responsible for managing ongoing engineering projects, as well as continuation engineering efforts, ensuring successful design, testing, and manufacturing of printed circuit assemblies (PCAs) and embedded microcontroller firmware. The candidate will work with a variety of system features, including measurement and user controls, low power consumption, compact enclosures, and embedded systems.
A successful candidate will bring a demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges, using standard engineering practices, to design and troubleshoot PCAs with 32-bit microcontrollers, FPGAs, and custom analog and digital circuitry. In addition to technical leadership, the Senior Electrical Engineer Supervisor will work closely with the Director of Electrical Engineering to define objectives for direct reports, manage workload and performance, and foster professional development within the team.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will:
- Solve complex technical design and development problems, and create architecture for electrical systems, design circuits, and printed circuit assemblies
- Write firmware for the embedded system to control and process sensor readings
- Lead development of printed circuit assemblies, designing circuit to meet technical specification and ensure that the product meets electromagnetic compatibility requirements
- Independently design, simulate, test, and debug moderately complex to complex electrical circuits to ensure compliance with customer needs, design specifications, and quality standards
- Apply problem solving skills to analyze new and unfamiliar engineering problems and review potential solutions with other engineers and/or project leads, when necessary
- Analyze requirements to create and manage design documentation, in accordance with applicable engineering standards, product development processes, and quality systems
- Manage, motivate, and develop a team, including setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering career growth
- Work with engineering leadership to develop team goals and objectives, plan for employee training and personal development, and gather input for performance reviews
- Collaborate in the budget planning process, and oversee the hiring and onboarding of new employees to ensure a smooth integration into the team
- Drive process improvements and identify inefficiencies within the team or project
- May travel to customer sites to provide customer service support and help resolve problems
What Do You Need?

- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field
- 5+ years of product development experience in electrical engineering, with leadership over electrical hardware (HW) and firmware (FW)
- Experience in leading change initiatives, adapting to new processes, technologies, or organizational structures
- Experience in embedded hardware (HW) design with 32-bit microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, Cortex)
- Proficiency in designing low-noise analog circuits to support precision sensors
- Experience with low-power DC/DC power supplies and rechargeable battery systems
- Expertise in PSpice or equivalent circuit simulation tools
- Proficiency in schematic capture, EMI/EMC and grounding principles, PCB design oversight, low-power analog design, and board-level circuit troubleshooting
- Experience with analog-to-digital conversion, digital logic, memory, and signal processing
- Programming experience in Python and C/C++
Desired
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in people management, leading teams of engineers, providing direction, and developing employees through coaching, mentoring, and providing performance evaluations
- Experience in delegating tasks effectively based on team members strengths and ensuring optimal resource allocation
- Experience in Internet-of-Things or other network protocols and wireless technologies
- Experience in design of battery-backed circuit and wireless technology
- Linux and Real Time Operating system knowledge
