Seeking Experienced Metal Fabricator - Craftsperson - Artist

Heritage Metalworks is a recognized architectural metal fabrication shop featuring a custom fabrication, tin and copper shop, blacksmith shop, foundry, and finishing shop, offering hundreds of original designs and custom options. We are seeking a skilled craftsperson to join us! Our team consists of artists who are also mechanically inclined. Five or more years of relevant architectural metalwork experience is required.
The most successful applicants will have the following:
- A background, experience, or significant passion for finely finished metalwork and the ability to complete custom lighting fixtures, door & cabinet hardware, range hoods, doors, furniture, architectural elements, and at times commissioned pieces.
- Proficiency at reading and understanding construction based on engineering drawings and sketches to assist with executing custom and standard item projects.
- An ability to set up, operate, and improve operation of lathes, mills and other machinery or equipment independently, including understanding proper use of tooling and holdings.
- A working knowledge of all basic shop equipment including mill, lathe, shears, drill presses, and brake.
- Exposure to a variety of metal fabrication operations such as sheet metal work, casting, finishing, coating, patina, and machining.
- Experience soldering, brazing, welding, finishing, patina, coating, machining, and assembling brass, bronze, and iron.
- Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard safe practices of the trade.
The following traits are equally important:
- 20/20 Vision, with or without corrective eyewear, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Attention to detail and the ability to articulate ideas, explanations, and concerns.
- Self-motivated and resourceful, with an ability to work independently.
HMW typically allows working employees to set their hours during a standard Monday through Friday workweek, once they have proven they can work independently and efficiently without regular supervision. Most of our employees work approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Starting at $26.00/hour (if opting out of medical compensation). Compensation is negotiable for applicants with significant relevant experience.
