Utility Foreman Job Description:
The Utility Foreman supervises and coordinates crews involved in the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground and above-ground utility systems, including water, sewer, storm drain, electrical, gas, and telecommunications. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications for Utility Foreman:
8-10+ years of experience in utility construction, including at least 3-4 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of utility installation methods (open trench, directional boring, etc.) and materials (PVC, HDPE, ductile iron).
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, utility locates, and municipal specifications.
Proficiency with basic construction tools and heavy equipment.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification (preferred).
Must be able to safely use hand/power tools and PPE
Must be able to perform job duties that require [PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: standing, crouching, twisting upper body, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted]
Position requires the use of PPE including: hard hat, steel toe work boots, vest, gloves, safety glasses
Additional Requirements for Utility Foreman:
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must have reliable transportation to the job site
Depending on assignment, applicants may be subject to pre-employment drug screen and background screening.
