Custodial Supervisor (Second shift 3:30pm - 12:00am)

- Supervises, assigns and inspects the daily activities of the department's custodians; estimates required materials and equipment needed for project completion; interacts with contractors and contracts work as needed.
- Sweeps, strips, waxes, buffs, mops and vacuums floor surfaces.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms; replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary.
- Cleans windows, walls, woodwork and light fixtures.
- Cleans and polishes elevators inside and out.
- Empties trash receptacles.
- Cleans and dusts tables and other furniture.
- Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
- Inspects building heating, air conditioning, and roof drains to ensure that they are functioning properly; inspects building roofs during rainstorms for leaks.
- Secures and locks buildings and facilities at appropriate times.
- Inspects maintenance equipment, repairing such equipment if necessary.
- Prepares and sets up for City Council meetings and other meeting involving the City Manager's Office and City Council for special events. Directs attendees to meeting rooms. Receives and responds to emergency custodial calls for buildings at night.

- Knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work.
- Knowledge of heavy floor stripping, waxing. and buffing equipment.
- Knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization and administration.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials.
- Ability to delegate work to a small group of custodians.
- Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.

Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demand requirements are for Medium Work. Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment and hand tools. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, such as hand tools and janitorial equipment. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination. Does not require the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color. Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal levels of stress. Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (talking - expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear).
