The Role: Project Manager - Hardware Design and Integration

As a Project Manager at Switch, you will be part of a world-class team that operates in excellence, delivering mission-critical solutions that redefine whats possible in AI, cloud and enterprise data center needs. Your work will directly impact the future of technology and the sustainable growth of the Internet.

This role provides definition, tracking and ownership for projects assigned to the Hardware Design and Integration Team. This includes coordinating schedules, tracking required components, and resources while communicating directly with internal teams, contractors, designers and department heads concerning project cost, staffing, and scheduling. This position will report directly to the EVP of Hardware Design and Integration.

What Youll Do

  • Manage multiple jobs at one time.
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management through fruition of each project from ensuring bill of material are completed through final assembly and performance verification.
  • Prepare job schedules using MS Project, Smartsheets or equivalent program software.
  • Attend and own/provide updates on weekly team meetings.
  • Demonstrate complete understanding and awareness of project requirements. To include the ability to estimate, recognize changes and take appropriate action.
  • Correspond with Client/Owner/Architect and Subcontractors.
  • Monitor third party work authorization.
  • Review invoices from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Coordination of trades and flow of work.
  • Review submittals; update all project logs and distribute to the team.
  • Review project or material quotes for accuracy and consistency prior to submitting for approval.
  • Ensure team has information readily available for projects.
  • Make sound business decisions and ensure meticulous follow up on items to push the projects along to fruition.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Construction Management or a related field is desired, A combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • 3+ years of experience in construction field planning preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction management processes means and methods, required.
  • Work experience in all disciplines of construction (civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing), preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Intermediate knowledge of Procore software.
  • Knowledge of CAD or CAD 3-D is desired.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of discipline, construction technology, design, applicable codes, standards, etc.
  • Analyze and resolve construction process problems and issues and effectively communicates and interfaces with all levels of personnel.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Utilize clear and positive communication skills; excellent both written and oral communications and team skills.
  • Perform work tasks by receiving direction and then working independently with a interest in quickly learning and applying new skills and abilities.

  • Required to work a flexible schedule according to business needs/projects (includes, but not limited to nights and weekends, extended shifts and/or shift rotation).

On occasion it may be necessary to lift and carry or manipulate items of up to 50 lbs., walk over uneven or unpaved ground to reach a worksite in construction zones. This position may be required to perform a variety of construction tasks in all areas and aspects of the construction projectincluding scaffold or platform work, confined spaces and exposure to outside elements. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, stand, walk, bend, use hands, computer, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer and business equipment.

If your position requires you to work in the field and/or warehouse, it is mandatory that you wear approved Personal Protective Equipment.
