Plans Examiner -
Are you an experienced building professional looking for a dynamic role where you can make a real impact? Clermont County is seeking a Plans Examiner to ensure compliance with building codes and provide expert guidance on residential and commercial projects.
What You'll Do
- Review and approve residential plans in accordance with Clermont County Building Standards and the State of Ohio Building Code.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to field inspectors, helping them interpret codes, prepare reports, and resolve disputes.
- Act as a mediator between inspectors and the public when conflicts arise on construction sites.
- Consult with design professionals, contractors, and property owners regarding violations and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare written reports, maintain construction site records, testify at adjudication order hearings, and compile weekly and monthly activity reports.
- Perform building and mechanical inspections on new, remodeled, or existing commercial and industrial installations to ensure compliance with the Ohio Building Code.
What We're Looking For
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Eight years of experience in the Residential Construction field and Certification as a Residential Building Official under Section 4101:7-3-01 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with building inspectors, the public, and industry professionals.
- Strong communication skills to work with corporate executives, site managers, and third-party agencies to facilitate timely plan approvals.
- Daily use of a computer, using multiple software programs.
- Preferred qualifications* Registered architect or professional engineer, and State Certification as a Building Official under Section 4101:7-3-01.
Schedule & Compensation
- Typical workweek: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Evenings and weekends may be required.)
- Salary Range: $30.40 - $37.67 per hour
- Probationary period: 180 days.
