Olympic Corrections Center is a 271-bed male facility located near the Hoh Rainforest. This facility houses minimum security incarcerated individuals and offers Treatment, Work and Vocational Programs to help ready incarcerated individuals to transition back into the community. OCC also has outside work crews to serve the community as well as fire crews that work alongside Department of Natural Resource employees.

At Olympic Corrections Center, an adult correctional facility, this position is the supervisory level which supervises journey-level workers performing skilled work in at least two skilled trades.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Direct and supervise journey-level workers and a crew of resident workers engaged in construction, installation, maintenance and repair.
• Prepare preliminary cost estimates and projections for assigned task and order sufficient required materials.
• Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority.
• Use current OCC procedures to hire and train incarcerated individuals as needed.
• Ensure that all safety and security procedures are followed.
• Work with Plant Manager on daily work orders, Capital Projects, and assist in the overseeing of projects.
• Inspect facility grounds and buildings to determine the need for repair, maintenance, or replacement.
• Instruct staff and resident workers in the safe use of power and manual tools.
• Oversee and give instruction to staff and incarcerated individuals during work projects to ensure that work is being completed according to specifications and in a safe manner according to DOC policies and procedures.
• Perform work in installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, electrical, steam, heating, and other systems and equipment, to include the operation of various types of heavy machinery.
• Provide first level supervision to staff in various classifications and trades.
• Establish and prioritize performance expectations for staff.
• Conduct timely performance evaluations as required.
• Effectively address employee performance and misconduct issues.

REQUIRED:

• Valid Driver's License
• Two years of experience and completion of recognized apprenticeship in at least two skilled trades, OR four years of applicable work experience or vocational training, OR, Two Years experience as a Construction & Maintenance Project Lead.
