The Tooling, Process & Training team is responsible for developing and distributing custom service and commissioning tooling hardware to support the rapid development and maintenance of Tesla Energy's storage and charging solutions, as well as training individuals on these solutions. This person will assist in creating service procedures, designing and validating service tools, responding to field failures on rapid timelines, and, to some extent, contributing to the development and delivery of training content based on field findings.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong mix of mechanical and process engineering skills and a passion for working in a fast-growing renewable energy company.
- Support service process development efforts for current and next-generation products
- Own field failures, from root cause analysis (RCA) to solution implementation
- Design custom service tools and redesign existing tools, if necessary, to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with the internal reliability team and external vendors to define and conduct required reliability tests on critical tools
- Support the design of new mechanical tools for new product introduction (NPI) and the existing fleet
- Incorporate the latest field findings into the internal training program
- 1-2 years of proven experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, DFM/DFA, and quality control (QC)
- 1-2 years of experience in product development - specifically tools such as RCA, FMEA, and DVP&R
- 1-2 years of experience in general electromechanical design, manufacturing, and/or integration
- Experience in setting up reliability studies for mechanical and electrical tools
- Basic knowledge of HV best practices
- Ability to collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders under tight deadlines for quick-turnaround assemblies
- Willingness to travel to commissioning sites, vendor sites, containment/service sites, and Giga factories 10-15% of the time
