You will need to reapply for any future recruitment conducted forthis job classification.Nature of Work: As a Shop Maintenance Contract Inspector, this individual will perform dutiesin the maintenance and construction work areas such as highways, ramps, buildings, parkingareas, bridges, and snow removal. This position will oversee all aspects of work done by thecontractors including, but not limited to guardrail installation, repair, and reimbursables; paving;highway lighting; line striping; herbicide spraying; tractor mowing; tree and brush cutting; inletrepairs; mechanical roadway sweeping; snow removal services; maintenance of traffic; andcrack sealing. The Shop Maintenance Contract Inspector receives assignments from theTransportation Engineering Technician IV, Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer, and theResident Maintenance Engineer. The main purpose of this position is to oversee workperformed by skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled work teams. Also, ensuring that all materialsand equipment are used correctly and that the project is done on time according to thecontract's special provision and Maryland Specification and Standards Manual. Job duties alsoinclude keeping work records on Inspector Daily Reports, Daily Construction Logs, and/oreTAC cards, to be entered into the Ledger Book. This position will provide the basic level ofprofessional experience to ensure that the daily maintenance operations in the Daytonmaintenance facility are carried out correctly, safely, and in compliance with standards andspecifications. This position requires a Drivers License. This position will be on call 24/7 forhighway emergencies and natural disasters and is considered essential personnel. Selective qualifications are utilized when theposition requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e.,knowledge, skill, or ability).Preferred Qualification:?
