Project Design Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

Design and layout of mechanical systems, including:

HVAC: ductwork, hydronic systems, air distribution, ventilation, and controls

Plumbing: domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty systems

Process Piping: chemical, gas, compressed air, and other utility piping

Develop engineering calculations including load estimates, pressure drops, and pipe/duct sizing

Prepare construction documents, including plans, details, and specifications

Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines, architects, and contractors

Conduct site visits and surveys to document existing conditions and support construction

Support project submittal reviews, RFIs, and field coordination during construction administration

Ensure designs follow applicable codes, standards (ASHRAE, IPC, IMC, NFPA), and client requirements

Assist in the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules

Participate in quality assurance and peer review processes

Qualifications

Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

1-4 years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or process piping system design

Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with BIM coordination is preferred

Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, UPC/IPC, IMC, NFPA)

Experience with load calculation and system modeling software (e.g., Trane Trace, Energy Pro) is a plus

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
