SUMMARY: Working as part of the leadership team, you will provide high level assistance to the Superintendent by managing, directing and supervising staff who operate all aspects of the facility including compliance with the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) requirements. The staff have both operational and laboratory responsibilities providing proactive and reactive maintenance to the mechanical and electrical equipment as well as EGLE compliance sampling and reporting. This position will assist the Superintendent with developing operational strategies and procedures and direct their implementation. Ensure effective operation and regulatory compliance. Assist with the development and maintenance of all facility health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current city and MIOSHA standards. Assist with the preparation of the facility's annual budget and monitor expenditures. Assist with managing maintenance and construction contracts, coordinating the operation of the facility with the needs of construction. Prepare statistical and narrative reports for Superintendent regarding plant operation, asset management, and finances including monthly operating reports. The Department of Public Works & Environmental Services (DPW) WRRF team manages a facility that processes 14 MGD of sewage, a 2.6 MG Retention Treatment Basin (RTB) that stores and provides limited treatment of combined sewage during heavy rain events, and three pump stations. Qualifications:

Five years (5) of increasingly responsible experience in an operating class B, or higher, secondary or tertiary wastewater treatment plant, including two (2) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. The WRRF facility is a 24/7 operation. The ability to respond to the emergency needs of the facility and staff is a requirement of this position. Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or related field is preferred.

Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred. Familiarity with Lucity asset management software and New World financial software is preferred.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Michigan driver s license within 60 days of hire. Possession of a Michigan Class A Wastewater Plant Operators license required.
