Job Description
We're partnering with a growing residential builder looking to bring plan design and drafting in-house for the first time in over a decade who can do much more than just draw.
This is a unique, client-facing hybrid role that blends drafting, plan development, light project management, and business developmentideal for someone looking to make an impact across both design and preconstruction.
Key Responsibilities:
Create construction-ready house plans based on the owner's design criteria (e.g., tile, flooring, layout)
Collaborate directly with the owner and clients to develop and finalize plans
Support business development by helping onboard and scope new residential projects
Visit job sites
Assist with budgets, permitting, plan specs, and improving preconstruction workflows
Help ensure smooth project handoff to construction operations
Qualifications:
Strong drafting experience
Familiar with architectural plans, site plans, and residential design standards
Organized and confident in communicating directly with owners, clients, and PMs
Experience in Microsoft Suite; additional design software a plus
Comfortable with job site visits and translating plans into practical field guidance
Interest or experience in business development or preconstruction coordination
Compensation:
Open based on experience
Bonus Structure: performance-based
No formal benefits, but a monthly stipend is available
