Motor Equipment Operator/Laborer

The Town of Geneseo Highway/Water Department is accepting applications for a Motor Equipment Operator (MEO)/Laborer.

Duties to include:

Motor Equipment Operator (MEO)

-Operate power shovels, bulldozers, cranes, back-hoes, graders, rollers, etc. to construct and maintain highways.

-Operate snow plow equipment

--Operate equipment for cutting banks, cutting/filling ditches, removing stumps, etc.

-Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment

-Clean culvers, painting, road maintenance and cleaning culverts

Laborer

-Operate power tools and equipment such as saws, compressors, drills, mixers, pumps and mowers.

-Perform clean-up work such as removing debris, raking leaves, cutting grass, weed eating, shoveling snow and collecting rubbish/litter from public lands and facilities

-Assist in maintaining roads and utility & drainage systems by digging/backfilling trenches, spreading asphalt, sand and gravel.

-Use hand tools such as shovels, scythes, forks and rakes in ground maintenance.

Load and unload trucks

-Act as flag person on highway jobs

-Assist in erecting snow fences, barricades and recreation equipment

Requirements:

-High School Diploma or equivalent

-Clean, current CDL-A or CDL-B driver's license

-Paid, full-time experience in the operation of construction/specialized/heavy motor equipment

-Experience in plumbing and/or water/sewer installation, maintenance and repair a PLUS, but is not required.

-Previous heavy manual labor is preferred

***Qualified candidates will be trained to assist in the Water & Sewer Department
