Sheet Metal Mechanic (TRAVEL TO NEWPORT NEWS, VA 2 YEAR CONTRACT)** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic to work on new construction of the nuclear powered aircraft carriers and submarines. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the installation of foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and sheet metal fabrication shop work. **Responsibilities** + Comprehend complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, and reference lines. + Understand fractional and decimal dimensions using a ruler. + Lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly. + Assemble piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner. + Work in a physically demanding environment. + Follow OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry. + Utilize small hand tools (electric drills, grinders, rivet guns) and shop equipment (drill press, press brake, etc.). **Essential Skills** + Four years of commercial or naval sheet metal experience as a first-class Sheet Metal Worker. + Ability to comprehend complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches. + Familiarity with fractional and decimal dimensions. + Experience in laying off and assembling piece parts for fabrication. + Knowledge of OSHA regulations for the shipbuilding industry. + Proficiency in using small hand tools and shop equipment. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.31/hr.
