Painter Job Description The painter will be responsible for the proper preparation of surfaces and the application of painting materials to exterior surfaces, specifically focusing on painting truck bodies. This role requires prior experience in autobody painting. Responsibilities Mask glass, trim, and other parts not to be painted. Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces for painting. Clean and maintain spray guns and other painting equipment. Mix and match paints for correct application. Read and interpret plans for accurate product application. Maintain a clean work area daily. Essential Skills Associate degree in auto body technology or equivalent school and work experience. 2-4 years of automotive body repair and paint experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations manuals, and written directions. Ability to work independently and complete assignments within prescribed routines and standard practices. Successfully complete a pulmonary function test for respirator use. Successfully complete CRT (physical) test with a rating of Medium or higher. Proficiency in simple shop math. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with auto body painting and paint preparation. Familiarity with painting techniques such as sanding, finishing, paint mixing, masking, and using paint guns. Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch.
