Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Joint Use Design Engineer will be responsible for handling Joint Use applications from implementation to closing. To include all field review, pole loading, Make Ready engineering, permitting, and post-construction reviews.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Field review of pole application strand parts.

Perform pole loading analysis, sag calculations.

Review strand part with third party attaching company and or contractor.

Complete Make Ready staking package with estimate to be invoiced.

Manage job through make ready construction phase to application approval.

Work order reconciliation and closeout.

Post inspection of JU attachment.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must possess a minimum of a 2 year Associate's Degree in Electrical or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years Electrical Distribution Design, Broadband Fiber, and Communication design.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills. Computer skills. Utilize Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to: Outlook, Excel, Word, teams, and PowerPoint as required by job responsibilities. Strong working knowledge of Pole Foreman, NISC or comparable design tools. Time and project management skills required. Electrical Utility material knowledge preferred. National Electrical Safety Code Strengths and clearances requirements of power and communications, RUS and SCC requirements.

The candidate should be familiar with and be able to use NJUNS or comparable third-party attachment system to track and manage all third- party attachments and pole transfers. Implement and track VDOT, Railroad, VMRC, and EPA or government permitting and requirements. Reconcile and close work orders related to fiber projects. Organizing and managing design contractors and special projects.

This role works in a strong team-oriented environment and occasionally requires making presentations to boards or government agencies. The work includes a combination of in-office, remote, and field work. The job primarily involves driving, working outdoors in all weather conditions, walking on uneven terrain, and climbing. Local travel within REC's 22-county service territory, as well as occasional out-of-state travel, is required. Additionally, occasional overtime work may be necessary.
