The Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects. This role ensures that materials are acquired on time, within budget, and meet the necessary quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chains, excellent negotiation skills, and experience managing supplier relationships. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement procurement strategies that support project schedules and budgets. Source and evaluate suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors for construction materials and services. Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to ensure cost-effective purchasing. Issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve any supply issues or delays. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and vendor performance. Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and site supervisors to forecast demand and align purchasing with project timelines. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate just-in-time deliveries to minimize storage needs. Ensure all materials comply with company and regulatory quality standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster long-term partnerships. Analyze market trends to anticipate material price fluctuations and supply challenges. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (preferred). 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction materials, building systems, and vendor networks. Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities. Preferred Skills: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, SAP, Sage). Familiarity with local and national construction codes and material standards. Certification in supply chain or purchasing (e.g., CPSM, CPPB) is a plus.
