An electric utility client is looking for a Compliance Electrical Engineer who will support the Compliance Lead in managing multi-departmental projects tied to new or revised NERC Standards.
Location: Pomona, CA 91768 (HYBRID)
Position: Compliance Electrical Engineer
Pay Rate: $47/hr. on W2
Duration: 18 months or longer
Schedule: 8AM - 5PM. Hybrid: Remote on Mon, Tues and Fri; In office on Wed and Thurs
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a valued member of the Compliance team, you will play a key role in supporting the company's mission to deliver safe, reliable, and clean energy. You'll help ensure our compliance with evolving regulatory standards, while building partnerships across engineering, operations, and compliance teams.
In this role, you will:
Support the Compliance Lead in managing multi-departmental projects tied to new or revised NERC Standards.
Monitor the Grid Control Center's daily reports to identify Bulk Electric System (BES) operations.
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to revise Work Control Procedures and complete deliverables to maintain compliance with NERC standards.
Conduct data reconciliation activities to validate evidence and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
Manage the Offline Transmission Register, including creating rating requests, leading monthly stakeholder meetings, publishing internal updates, reconciliation, and uploading ratings to CAISO.
Support the development and maintenance of quarterly dashboards requested by Compliance Integration.
Support the Compliance Lead in analyzing new regulatory standards, perform gap assessments, and communicate impacts to Ethics and Compliance.
Contribute to internal initiatives such as Self-Certification, Risk Ranking, Critical Business Records, and Controls Development.
Coordinate and submit required annual reports for Underfrequency Load Shedding (UFLS) and Geomagnetic Disturbance (GMD) events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field
Two (2) or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) or more years of experience in electrical engineering, with substation or protection design experience
Foundational understanding of Protection Engineering philosophy
Familiarity with NERC standards and compliance programs
Working knowledge of regulatory codes, engineering practices, and utility procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with all levels of the organization
Demonstrated collaboration, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Passion for continuous improvement, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and grow
