Job Shop Mechanic Hours:6:30-3pm Monday- Friday Pay: $26-$28/hr Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanic/Maintenance candidate with a passion for tackling challenging projects. From assembling gear boxes to intricate ladder systems with electric motors and winches, the ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role requires a clear understanding of facility maintenance alongside mechanical expertise. The successful candidate will excel at following instructions, collaborating within a team, interpreting drawings, and meeting production expectations and deadlines. Primary Responsibilities: Assemble, build, repair, and maintain manufactured parts, equipment, and facility infrastructure. Work under moderate supervision while demonstrating self-starting capabilities. Provide assistance to production areas as needed. Ability to interpret and execute tasks based on written and verbal instructions, including drawings and work orders. Troubleshoot and resolve non-routine problems that may arise during projects. Maintain a clean, organized work area, and ensure a safe working environment. Accurately record time against assigned work orders and tasks. Conduct quality checks on parts and equipment, reporting deficiencies and recommending corrective actions to supervisors. Safely operate shop equipment, including overhead cranes, forklifts, saws, etc. Required Skills: 2 to 4 years of experience in a manufacturing/assembly industry, preferably in a custom job shop environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machinery. Proficiency in using hand tools, powered tools, band saw, Bridgeport, and drill press. Electrical background and knowledge. Forklift operation experience. Proficient in operating an overhead crane. Commitment to promoting and adhering to safety standards. Highly Desired Skills: Team player with a collaborative mindset. Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Electrical background and expertise. Familiarity with cutting and machining equipment. Exceptional mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
