Cable Installation Technician

at Lantech Communications LLC in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, United States Job Description Perform various tasks related to laying cables, installing equipment, troubleshooting, and ensuring optimal performance of telecommunications services for our clients; Lay cables from poles and inside houses; Check signal levels at cable outlets; Provision TV, internet, and telephony services for clients; Install equipment such as modems and cable boxes; Access specific areas to string lines, or install terminal boxes, auxiliary equipment, or appliances, using bucket trucks, climbing poles or ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces; Troubleshoot communication equipment to ensure proper functioning; Test communications equipment to ensure optimal performance; Adjust equipment as needed to ensure optimal performance; Install insulation in equipment or structures; Complete associated record-keeping to ensure all work details are recorded for entry into the customer's account; Communicate, engage, and educate customers on products and services; Properly operate and maintain installation tools, technology, and equipment; Calculate requirements for equipment installation or repair projects; Measure equipment outputs; Compact materials to create level bases; Assemble structural components; Analyze test or performance data to assess equipment operation; Inspect telecommunications equipment to identify problems; Measure signal strength at utility poles using electronic test equipment; Inspect or test lines or cables, recording and analyzing test results to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions; Perform installations and changes of service while adhering to company procedures and safe work practices, National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, and local ordinances to provide or remove services to the customer.
