Examples of Duties

(Title changed from Welder/Fabricator) Under supervision, does oxyacetylene and electric welding on iron, steel, and other metals. Measures, cuts, assembles, welds, and fabricates replacements as needed on equipment, vehicles, and structures. Performs other job-related duties as required. TYPICAL TASKS: Welds steam, air, water, and oil piping. Welds and brazes broken castings, pipe hangers, brackets, and pipe fittings. Cuts steel plates, pipes, rods, and bolts. Operates welder and related equipment. Repairs steam and water piping, steam traps, valves, flue blowers, and expansion joints. Heats and straightens automobile frames, axles, bumpers, and other parts. Straightens and repairs road machinery, tractors, trucks, and other machinery. Does arc-welding. Cuts metal with welding and other equipment. Threads pipe. Services welding equipment. Operates various equipment such as band saws, drill and hydraulic presses, as well as bending and rolling machines.

Minimum Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. Three years of full time paid welding experience is required. Must have layout and blueprint reading experience as well as experience in fabricating parts. Experience in Burning, Arc-Welding, Mig-Welding, Tig-Welding, and the use of Burny 3 CNC cutting machine is required. A welding training certificate is required. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.
