Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic provides general maintenance for all ACCESS facilities repairs including basic Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, General carpentry equipment as well as moving furniture and other related duties.
Core Job Responsibilities
Maintain preventative maintenance logs and documentation for safety inspections and surveys.
Emergency preparedness and response:
a. Serve as a member of the Incident Command Team.
b. Complete all required emergency management training.
c. Conduct required fire drills and provide fire safety training.
d. Inspects fire extinguishers monthly and performs weekly safety inspections for fire, life safety, and occupant comfort.
e. Responds to emergencies and ensures fire & life safety.
- Perform repairs and installs of facility items such as flooring, ceiling tiles, doors, wall patching, door
trimming/molding, partitions. Install shelving, cabinetry, and doors. Assemble furniture and equipment.
Perform maintenance duties related to plumbing and HVAC including but not limited to changing filters, belts and minor plumbing and HVAC related repairs.
Enters and completes work assignments via computerized work order management system.
Perform all preventative maintenance and complete corrective work orders within department standards and set deadlines.
Works with outside contractors to ensure they have the necessary support to perform high quality and safe services to ACCESS.
Provides set-up for special events and transport, moves, and removes boxes furniture. Performs light grounds keeping and snow removal for selected sites.
Responsible for safe and orderly maintenance of department inventory, tools, and supplies in the assigned trucks and at the network warehouse.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Preferences
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in maintenance role with emphasis in carpentry required.
- Experience in a healthcare work setting preferred.
- Valid driver's license with good-standing driving record; insurance required.
- Basic working knowledge of mechanics, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, OSHA regulations, and building codes.
- Related certification preferred (i.e., carpentry, HVAC, electrical, locksmith, and refrigeration).
- Basic requirements for PC skills and emails.
Working Conditions/Equipment
- Health Center environment
- Local travel between health centers and community events is required; mode of transportation required, if personal vehicle is employed, a current driver's license and proof of insurance is required.
- Able to work between 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. some holidays, weekends, and availability during off-hour emergencies.
- Ability to perform the following for extended periods of time: standing, walking, lifting, etc.
- Ability to climb ladders and dead lift a minimum of 50lbs.
- Ability to work in temperatures below 32F and above 90F.
- Candidates must have their own hand tools.
