Welder Job Description We are seeking skilled welders for both 1st and 2nd shifts to join our dynamic team. 1st shift welders will engage in custom fabrication, requiring proficiency in reading blueprints and weld symbols to build parts tailored to customer specifications. 2nd shift welders will focus on production welding, specifically manufacturing 'elevator tanks', with opportunities for new graduates from welding school. Both shifts predominantly involve working with rolled steel and MIG welding, with TIG or Sub Arc experience considered a plus. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols for accurate fabrication. Set up welding equipment according to project specifications and materials. Perform MIG welding on rolled steel for custom and production projects. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction. Essential Skills Proficiency in blueprint reading. Experience in MIG welding. Ability to set up welding equipment independently. Additional Skills & Qualifications TIG welding experience is a plus. Work Environment The team consists of approximately 30 individuals working closely in a custom machine shop with a strong customer orientation. Dress code includes steel-toed boots and jeans. Work hours are 6am - 2:30pm for 1st shift and 2:30pm - 10:30pm for 2nd shift. Welders must have their own welding helmets. The shop is currently busy, fostering a hardworking atmosphere focused on completing orders. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.
