Job Summary
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energeticMechanic in our State College shop. The qualified candidates will have experience working on heavy equipment. Applicant must be able to work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands.
Main Responsibilities
Reads job order and observes equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
Overhaul's gas or diesel engines.
Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and makes adjustments.
Lubricates moving parts and drives or operates repaired truck or equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
Completes all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for trucks
Other duties may be assigned
Education
High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred
Valid drivers' license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history
Skills
Previous experience and knowledge with diesel equipment/trucks and/or related field preferred
Knowledge of diagnostic software and equipment
Strong mechanical proficiency and troubleshooting skills including knowledge of diesel engine and components
Physical Requirements
Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, use hands to move and manipulate objects, and communicate (talk and hear)
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
Frequent exposure to loud noise, all outdoor weather conditions, dust, fuel, oil, other chemicals, and airborne particles
Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
Abides to company safety and drug/alcohol testing requirements
