Electrical Design Engineer opportunity for someone with expertise in medium voltage power generation and distribution associated with heavy industrial, utility, or similar large plant projects. This hybrid contract position offers flexibility (2-3 days onsite / remote) in any of the following office locations - Kansas City, MO, Cincinnati, OH, Appleton, WI, Greenville, SC, Raleigh, NC, Savannah, GA, or Mobile, AL. The role involves designing and supporting industrial power projects, ranging from facility upgrades to large-scale EPC contracts.

responsibilities:
- Design and engineer medium voltage power generation systems for gas generator packages.
- Develop conceptual layouts, one-line diagrams, protective relay settings, and arc flash assessments.
- Coordinate construction, operation, and maintenance of power generation, receiving, and distribution systems.
- Prepare equipment specifications, contractor scopes, and oversee procurement including technical bid analyses.
- Provide on-site startup support and commissioning supervision.
- Perform power energy and quality audits; inspect installations for safety and compliance.
- Work with grounding systems (high resistance, building, isolated).
- 5-10+ years of experience designing medium voltage power generation and distribution systems in heavy industrial settings.
- Knowledge of NEC, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA codes and standards.
- Prior experience in consulting engineering or construction industries.
- Ability to manage onsite plant projects independently.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; proven ability to meet deadlines and budgets.
