QUALIFICATIONS: Must have knowledge of electrical terms and materials and of the circuits used in buildings, single and polyphase motors, electric equipment, kitchen and refrigeration equipment, portable hand tools and ability to maintain, repair and install such circuits; National Electric Code and the Electrical Safety Order of the State of California.
Must possess the skill to effectively perform journeyman electrical maintenance, repair, and construction activities; establish and maintain appropriate logs and records and to prepare written reports as requested; quickly identify problem areas or situations and take appropriate action to resolve problems identified; maintain inventory and stock quantities at appropriate levels; communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Must have the ability to install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical systems, including conduit and duct systems, light and power circuits, motor appliances, generators, transformers, control equipment, switches, switchboards, heaters, fixtures, and other types of electrical lighting and power equipment; wires new and altered buildings; assembles, tests, and installs lighting fixtures; maintain and repair heavy equipment used in construction trades work; checks and overhauls circuits and wiring systems and repair equipment; read and work from sketches, blueprints and specifications.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: This position requires minimum of five years of experience as a journeyman electrician. Graduation from a State certified school preferred, and the ability to read, write, and do math calculations at a level necessary to perform the duties of the position.

MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVERS LICENSE. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST SUBMIT A CURRENT COPY OF DRIVING RECORD ISSUED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE TRAINED AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KERN HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICTS NEEDS WITH REGARDS TO ASBESTOS, LEAD PAINT AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.
ABILITY TO PASS BOTH A WRITTEN AND HANDS-ON PRE-EMPLOYMENT EXAMINATION REQUIRED.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK AND PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Under general supervision, to perform skilled work in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment and do related work as required.
STARTING SALARY: $7,266.13 - $7,601.21 (Salary based on experience)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours to be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
