Prepares painting equipment by moving switches and dials to start flow current and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment and by turning valves and observing gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station. Selects color and type of paint as designated on router. Changes barrels, ensuring each dispensing container is properly grounded.
Prepares parts by washing parts, blowing off parts, removing rust and weld berries, etc. and repairing scratches or gouges.
Spray paints parts by hand using side-to-side or up-and-down motions, rotating or turning parts, and maneuvering around parts. Readjusts pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating.
Maintains and troubleshoots painting equipment by disassembling and assembling equipment, cleaning components, replacing defective parts, and checking final operation.
Operates and troubleshoots paint-mixing system and records data in log book.
Prepares parts for final inspection by inspecting painted parts for runs, sags, and unpainted areas. Uses overhead crane and forklift to remove large parts. Touches up defects.
Cleans paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks, and from spray heads and hoses. Replaces filters and checksand cleans smoke stacks. Disposes of junk paint and thinner.
Performs regular safety checks on personal protective equipment and painting equipment, i.e., grounding, leaks. Notifies Team Leader immediately of any problem areas.
Assists Paintline Hangers and Packer as needed.
HS diploma or general education degree (GED). One year of related experience in an Industrial or Autobody environment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must pass spirometry and receive medical approval to wear PPAR respirator for full shift to the Physical Demands.
