Job Title: Project Engineer

Job Description

As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in planning, designing, and installing new equipment while collaborating with the Operations and Maintenance departments. Your expertise will be crucial in providing technical support throughout the acquisition, installation, operation, maintenance, and improvement of manufacturing equipment. Additionally, you will research new industry developments in engineering techniques and incorporate innovative solutions into existing operations. Ensuring the enforcement of departmental and plant objectives related to Safety, Quality, Sanitation, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness will be a key part of your role. You will also coordinate building preventative maintenance activities and repairs with plant and area leads, while ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards are integrated into new designs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and install new equipment.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance departments.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing equipment.
  • Research and incorporate innovations from industry developments.
  • Enforce safety, quality, sanitation, and equipment effectiveness objectives.
  • Coordinate building preventative maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Ensure incorporation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards into new designs.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing engineering, industrial, and project management.
  • Experience with Solidworks and heavy industry.
  • BS Degree in Engineering.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD & Solidworks.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical fundamentals, including industrial medium voltage and power distribution.
  • NFPA 70e training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
  • Experience in heavy industrial settings preferred.
  • Root cause analysis and investigation skills.
  • HAZOP and process hazard analysis knowledge.
  • Understanding of OSHA, FDA & EPA regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in food processing, pharmaceutical, and/or chemical processing industry.
  • Familiarity with sifting, cleaning, sterilization, milling, mixing, and packaging equipment.

Work Environment

The role is based on-site five days a week in a heavy manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong floor presence and work effectively with operations teams. A self-motivated, organized, and analytical individual who is results-driven and comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects and priorities will thrive in this industrial environment. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, are essential, along with outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $45.67/hr.
